Our Story

Liberated on Purpose has gone through a profound transformation—much like the journey that birthed it.

When I was around 20 years old, I was convinced I would be a missionary to India. I believed God had placed that calling on my heart, and I pursued it wholeheartedly. As part of that journey, I interned with a local nonprofit called Global Hope India. It was there that I met a woman who would unknowingly help redirect the entire course of my life—Daya Relli.

Daya’s presence was unforgettable. She was fierce, confident, and deeply rooted in prayer. When she prayed, you could feel heaven shift. There was something undeniably powerful about her faith and her authority, and I knew she carried something special.

One evening, while having dinner at her home, Daya looked at me with a seriousness that stopped me cold. What she said next felt prophetic.

“You’re not going to be a missionary to India.”

I was stunned.

She continued, “God has a plan for you to work with women and girls—based on your story, your pain, and your experiences—to bring freedom and liberation right here.”

She knew that the verse God had placed on my heart was Isaiah 61:1...

“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor… to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and freedom to the prisoners.”

That passage is ultimately about Jesus—but it also spoke deeply to how God would redeem my own story. Slowly, God began to show me that my pain was not wasted, and that freedom was not just something I had received, but something I was called to steward and extend to others.

Out of that revelation came a simple but life-altering idea: Free to Be.

Free to be who we are, as we are, right where we are.

As believers, we were never meant to live in shame, hiding our brokenness or striving to earn God’s approval. Jesus did not come to bind us to fear, performance, or religious pressure. He came to set us free.

That understanding sparked the imagery that has followed me ever since—the butterfly. The cocoon. The breaking free. Transformation. Going out into the world changed, not perfect, but free. It became a symbol of metamorphosis and Spirit-led living.

Not long after, I encountered Galatians 5:1...

“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”

As I studied Galatians, I began to understand that we are no longer enslaved to the law. Jesus fulfilled it. We are now led by the Spirit, bearing fruit—not out of obligation, but out of freedom.

For a season, this calling lived quietly—as a concept, a blog, a vision I carried but never fully stepped into. And for nearly 10–15 years, it waited.

In the last year, God made it unmistakably clear: it was time.

First stop: a podcast.

It is time to tell my testimony—not the polished, surface-level version, but the full, unfiltered story of what God has done and how He has freed me. In this season of obedience, the original name Free to Be had to evolve. What remained was the heart of the message—freedom in Christ lived with intention—which gave birth to Liberated on Purpose.

Today, Liberated on Purpose is a growing podcast and blog, with a vision of becoming a nonprofit that provides resources, teachings, trainings, and community for believers seeking true freedom in Christ.

Whether that ultimately serves women, men, or both—God is still unfolding that part.

The heart remains the same: to live liberated on purpose and bring that freedom to others for the glory of Jesus. We invite you to step into this journey alongside us!
